Our bulk upload templates cover the basics you need for your data by default. However, we know you might need additional custom fields. This guide will show you how to ensure that all your custom field data gets captured during a bulk upload. Here are the steps:
- Create Custom Fields in ManageCasa: Before uploading your data using the bulk upload templates, make sure to create all the custom fields first in your ManageCasa account.
- Prepare the Bulk Upload Template: After creating custom fields in your ManageCasa account, download and prepare your bulk upload template.
-
Add Custom Fields to the Template: To ensure that the bulk loader captures your custom field data, add a new column at the end of the template (next to the last default field provided).
In the screenshot below, Column Q ("Description") is the last default field for the property template. Columns R and S are new columns added to capture data for custom fields "Room Key Number" and "Tenant History"
- Fill out and Upload: Once you've added all custom fields and filled out the template, you can now do the bulk upload.
FAQs
How many custom field columns can I add in the bulk upload template?
- You can add as many custom field columns as needed. Just make sure each custom field in the template is created in your ManageCasa account and matches the template's application type (e.g., Property Template should only have custom fields for properties).
How do I fill in data to a table-type custom field?
- Example of a table-type custom field: "Tenant History" table
- To fill in data to a table-type custom field, remember these important marks or tags:
- " | " – The pipe symbol represents the separation of each column cell in your table
- " <end> " – The "end" tag is used every after each table row data. This is also used to instruct the bulk loader to move and continue adding data to the next row in the table.
See the screenshot below how the pipe symbol and "end" tag is used in a bulk upload template:
In cell S3, the data is written as:Marie Chan | mchan@testemail.com | 415-274-3210 | Feb 1 2023 | Aug 1 2023 <end>
The pipe symbol is used to separate details such as Name, Email, Contact Number, Move-In Date, and Move-out Date. The "<end>" tag, as described, is used to tell the bulk loader that the row data ends and should continue adding data to the next row; in this case, the bulk loader is instructed to enter Roger Federico's details in the second row.
Roger Federico | rfederico@testemail.com | 415-275-4567 | Oct 1 2023 | Mar 31 2024 <end>
Once the template has been uploaded, they should look like this:
