Here, we address common questions and concerns to help you navigate the process of bulk uploading contacts to your ManageCasa account. This guide will provide clarity on the steps and best practices to ensure a seamless and error-free upload experience.
1. What does the error "Owner Name: [owner name] found more than one" mean?
- This error means there are two or more property owners in your contact list with the same name, so the bulk uploader couldn't figure out which one to link to the property. Here are a few options to fix this:
- Delete the duplicate. But before you do, make sure there's no property or transactions attached to it.
- Use email addresses instead. If the contacts aren't duplicates and just share the same name, use their email addresses instead. List the email under the "Owner Email" column in the template instead of the "Owner Name" column.
- Add distinguishing information. If neither has an email address, edit the contacts and add something to distinguish them. For example, one contact might not have a middle initial, and you can add a middle initial to the other.
2. What is the difference between options like "Condo" vs "Multi-Unit Residential" in the Property Type column?
- For buildings where you need to create subunits, select a property type with the "multi-unit" designation. This allows you to create a multi-unit building and add subunits to it. For standalone units where you only need to create a single property, select any option that does not have "multi-unit" in the type.
3. What is the format or process for creating a multi-unit building and its subunits?
- Ideally, the process would be to upload a separate template first for your multi-unit buildings. Once they are created in your ManageCasa account, you can then use their MultiUnit IDs in the property template to attach subunits to them. For creating subunits in the template, you only need to fill out these columns:
Required columns Optional columns • MultiUnit ID
• Owner Name/Owner Email
• Unit Number
• Unit Type• Bedrooms
• Bathrooms
• Size
• Description - QUICK TIP: If you only have one or a few multi-unit buildings, you can manually create them instead of filling out and uploading a separate property template.
- NOTE: To learn more about MultiUnit ID/Unit ID in the property template and where to find/get them, visit our Guide to Property Template Columns article.
4. If I don't need certain columns in the spreadsheet, can I delete them?
- Do not delete any columns or add any new sheets that are not in the base template. This will always result with the spreadsheet failing during the upload.
5. How do I add custom field data?
- You can add custom field data by adding an additional column after the last column in the spreadsheet. Label the column with the custom field title and add the data in the respective column.
- NOTE: The custom field must exist in your ManageCasa account in order for the bulk loader to recognize what data needs to be created. If you have not created the custom field in your ManageCasa account yet, please create the custom field for the contact first before using the contacts bulk loader. Visit this article to learn more about adding custom fields in bulk upload template
6. What does the error "Subscription: Property Limit Exceeded on your subscription" mean?
- This means that you've reached or are close to reaching the maximum number of properties allowed by your subscription plan. To resolve this, you'll need to either remove/delete some existing properties or upgrade your subscription to accommodate more properties. You can contact us to upgrade your subscription.
