Overview
The Control Portal is a powerful configuration tool in ManageCasa that lets account owners control what sections, widgets, and features their users can access. Whether you’re managing tenants, owners, board members, accountants, or other admins, you can tailor their in-app experience—without changing core role permissions.
This allows for more flexibility, better user segmentation, and cleaner dashboards across associations and property types.
Key Benefits
- Show or hide specific sections (e.g., Bank Accounts, Messages, Maintenance, Leases)
- Reorder or remove dashboard widgets
- Create custom views per association or user type
- Apply controls for account users, residents, owners, and admins
How to Access the Control Portal
- Log into ManageCasa as an Account Owner or Admin
- Navigate to More Features > Control Portals
- Click + Add View
- Give the configuration a name and assign a user role (e.g., Tenant, Property Owner, Accountant, Admin)
Customization Options
Section Visibility
After selecting a role, you can:
- Enable or disable any core sections for that role, including:
- Account Verification
- Bank Accounts
- Maintenance
- Leases
- Message Boards
- Help Center
- E-Voting
- Statements
- Charges
- Account Verification
You can choose to disable access to sections like "Bank Accounts" and "Account Users" for property owners, while still keeping "Documents" and "Messages" accessible.
To disable a section, simply click the eye icon next to it. When the icon changes to a slashed eye
, it indicates the section is now hidden from the owner.
Icon Reference:
Eye Icon = Section is enabled (visible to the user)
Slashed Eye Icon = Section is disabled (hidden from the user)
Dashboard Widget Control
In the Dashboard configuration, you can:
- Hide specific widgets for that role
- Reorder widgets by dragging them into position
- Remove visibility for insights like:
- E-Voting Summary
- Financial Overviews
- Maintenance Alerts
- Communications Summary
- E-Voting Summary
Widgets now reside under the Insights tab, rather than the dashboard tabs where they were previously located.
Association-Specific Views
Control Portal configurations can be customized per association:
- Create default views for all users not linked to a specific association
- Define unique configurations for specific communities (e.g., "Elms Owners")
This is especially useful for managing multiple associations with varying governance or access needs.
Real-Time Updates
- Once changes are saved, user dashboards and access automatically reflect the updates
- A known issue currently delays widget order updates in some views, which is being addressed in an upcoming patch
Notes on Permissions
- Control Portal filters down access based on a user’s existing permissions
- It does not override or elevate base role permissions (e.g., giving board members access to accounting if their role doesn’t allow it)
- Role permissions must be configured separately by the ManageCasa team or system administrator
Troubleshooting Tips
Problem | Solution |
User still sees disabled section | Ensure the correct role configuration is applied |
Widget order didn’t update | Log out and back in, or wait for fix (in progress) |
Can't update name in activity logs | Activity logs reflect the original actor at the time of action—this cannot be retroactively changed |
